Originally a home brewing project started by close friend Kale Baiton, Good Spirit Kombucha (GSK) quickly out grew the home and moved into a dedicated brewery space in 2020. Taylor Chapman and Colleen Cretin took over operations at this time.
As GSK outgrew it’s home brewery set up and moved to a dedicated brewery, Taylor and Colleen made the switch from bottling to canning the kombucha. This was the perfect time to update the labels and logo as the company grew.
The GSK brewery is located in downtown Regina, SK.
Coniferous, the primary typeface for GSK, was created by James Edmondson of OH no Type Co. It features large swooshes that gives the logo a hand-lettered feel.
Degular Display - also created by OH no Type Co acts as a secondary font for use in more utility situations.
Pastiche Grotesque, designed by Order Type Foundry, is used for labels and body text on the exterior of the Good Spirit Kombucha 6 Pack boxes.
Many variants of the new mark were explored.
Custom tittles were added above the ‘i’ characters in the mark. The standard dot was replaced with a shape that resembles a leaf. These are based on the leaves that were featured on the original labels.
The colour palette is primarily black and white values with bits of colour introduced with each individual flavour.
